Emergency and Sports Medicine

Dr. James Russell serves as both the Director of Sports Medicine Services at VOC as well as the Medical Director at our adjunct facility, Killington Medical Clinic. He's certified by the American College of Emergency Physicians and holds a certificate in Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine from the same organization.

A long-time Vermonter, Jim received his B.A. from the University of Vermont, in Burlington, followed by his M.D. from the Medical College of Vermont, also in Burlington. He did his surgical residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont and another in Emergency Medicine at the Institute of Emergency Medicine and Trauma, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jim was also an assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic Sailboard Team from 1984 through 1988.

Jim has been associated with Killington Medical Clinic since 1986, and the VOC since 1997. Previously, he was a Research and Surgical Assistant for Mid-Vermont Orthopaedics in Rutland.
