Synovectomy

Synovectomy is the removal of the diseased synovium (sac around the joint). When this is removed, it reduces the pain and swelling of rheumatoid arthritis and prevents or slows down the destruction of joints.

The synovium often will grow back after several years and the problem can happen again.
