CT Scans
(Computerized Tomography)
This test uses
a narrow beam of x-ray to scan an area in successive layers. X-ray beams
are used in conjunction with a computer. It produces a three dimensional
picture of the part being studied. It can be done with dye or without
dye injection.
There are many reasons
that your doctor would order a CT Scan and you should be informed of
the reasons. The procedure takes about 45-90 minutes. If a dye is used,
it is injected into a vein.
You may feel flushed
and warm and may taste a metal or salty taste in your mouth. At times,
patients feel nausea and vomiting. It does require that you lay still
for this test.
You will be given
the results of this test by your doctor at your next office visit.
