Bone Scans

This examination involves injection of a dye into a vein. After injection of this dye, you will be asked to drink fluids and wait for 2-3 hours. Before the test is done, you will be asked to empty your bladder and then placed on an x-ray table.

The test usually takes about 30-60 minutes depending on the part of your body that is being scanned.

This test is done to evaluate bones for any disease process or to re-evaluate an ongoing problem.
